I’m getting a macmini to edit, should I upgrade the internal hardrive to 250GB or get a 1TB external?

They’re the same price but I was wondering which would make more sense. The macmini comes with a 120GB internal, which seems pretty small. But upgrading to 250GB is costly, especially considering the 1TB external is the same price.

If you’re fairly tech-savvy, you can buy your own 250 GB or even 500 GB internal hard drive and upgrade it yourself. There are guides on http://www.ifixit.com that will show you how to take the Mini apart, how to replace the hard drive, and how to put it back together again. Apple always overcharges for RAM and hard drive upgrades – whenever possible, you want to do these yourself. Even if you don’t know how to do it, though, or just don’t want to, I’m fairly sure it would still be a lot cheaper to buy your own hard drive and pay one of the techs at an Apple Store to install it for you.
