Quarterly shipments of Research in Motion’s BlackBerry smartphones saw a slight decline year over year to 14.1 million units, while PlayBook shipments dropped sequentially to 150,000, according to the company’s latest quarterly earnings report.

Scattered reports have emerged that stolen iPhones continue to receive iMessages intended for their original owners even after changing numbers, resetting Apple ID passwords and remote wiping the handsets.

Three Apple-related search terms were included in Google’s Zeitgeist 2011, with Steve Jobs, the iPhone 5 and iPad 2 all ranking as one of the top ten fastest-rising global queries recorded by the internet search giant.
