How do I setup the domain name on the MacMini Server?
Question by Matteo D: How do I setup the domain name on the MacMini Server? I would like to buy a MacMini Server to access data from any part of the world. I would like a guide to setup the domain name that will allow me to access the server at any part of the world. for example, I would like to buy the domain familydelfino.com and then be able to access the wiki server on a domain like wiki.familydelfino.com.

Answer by CDFirst, you have to contract with your internet provider for a public, static IP address. When you have that in hand, you buy the domain name, and supply that static IP address to that registrar’s DNS servers. Once you have done that, and the changes have propagated throughout the network, anything you hang on your internet connection automatically becomes familydelfino.com (although since you are not a commercial entity you should ideally buy familydelfino.name). That can be a MacMini Server or anything else.

Answer by A.you need the original cd that came with the mini. you can order them from apple.com or 800-my-apple. other than that there’s no way of getting around it. you can find someone with a similar mac mini (same specs) and borrow their cd’s as well.
